Eskalith (Lithium Carbonate) is indicated for the treatment of a manic-depressive disorder or also known as bipolar disorder. It is a mental disorder that causes periods of depression and periods of abnormally elevated mood.

Eskalith (Lithium Carbonate) works by calming the mood and decreases extremes in behavior. It is by restoring the balance of certain natural substances (neurotransmitters) in the brain.
The neurotransmitter is a type of chemical messenger which transmits signals across a chemical synapse, such as a neuromuscular junction. It is from one neuron (nerve cell) to another ‘target’ neuron, gland cell, or muscle cell.

Eskalith (Lithium Carbonate) belongs to the group of medications known as mood stabilizers. This drug is used to decrease the intensity of manic episodes or to prevent it among people with bipolar disorder. This is available as tablets for oral administration. Each tablet has 300mg of Lithium Carbonate as an active ingredient. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved this medication.
How to use Eskalith (Lithium Carbonate)?
The recommended dosage is based on your response, condition, and other medications that you are taking. Follow the prescription of your doctor very carefully. Do not take it larger than the prescribed amount. Do not also take it more often than prescribed.
This drug is to be taken by mouth with a full glass of water. It is usually taken 3 to 4 times a day. You may take it with a meal or right after a meal to lessen stomach upset.
